About Phil

I am a Yorkshire based boxing MC and general sports MC, broadcaster and event host, and Dad to three fantastic children.

I started my career at York City Knights Rugby League Club, where I first ventured into stadium announcing. I did this for several years before then doing some work for BBC Radio York as an expert summariser for their rugby league commentary.

In 2009 I was recruited by Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in rugby's Super League to add to their matchday experience. I still announce at Wakefield now, in front of thousands of fans each and every home game. During my time with Wakefield I have hosted various events, from shirt launches to question and answer evenings.

In April 2011 I was granted my Master of Ceremonies license by the British Boxing Board of Control, enabling me to announce at all sanctioned shows. Since then I have secured bookings and repeat bookings from a number of professional boxing promoters, announcing boxers from debutants in their first contest right up to world champions. As a boxing MC I have worked for many of the UK's premier boxing promoters, including Eddie Hearn at Matchroom Boxing, Frank Maloney and Dennis Hobson, both of whom I have worked for many times. In May 2013 I announced my first boxing world title bout when I welcomed Jamie McDonnell and Julio Ceja into the ring at the Keepmoat Stadium, Doncaster, to contest the IBF Bantamweight Championship of the World.

In March 2014 I started presenting "Terrace Talk" on Radio Yorkshire, furthering the great experience I had presenting on student radio and summarising on rugby league for BBC local radio.

I have hosted many other sporting events from Darts live on ITV to Pool, pre-recorded for Sky Sports. I have become regarded as a safe pair of hands for events of all kinds in the sporting world.

I have hosted many events ranging from 'Question and Answer' evenings and sportsmans' dinners to charity valentines balls, carrying out raffles, auctions, interviews and introductions, and generally making sure the event flows as it should.

Having announced for World Snooker Tour at a great number of events on ITV and Eurosport, quickly becoming a recognised face on snooker on TV. This role includes announcing the players out on live television, but also giving important messages to the crowd before and during the sessions, warming them up and presenting video previews and also conducting post-match interviews with players for World Snooker's online portals and social media.

In my time on the microphone I have interviewed many celebrities, from sportsmen, to entertainers and hollywood actors, and even a world cup final referee.

I can help to add that professional edge to any sporting or promotional event.
